Ever felt that your baby deserve everything in the world? At least I do. When she was born, I wanted to buy her everything and EVERYTHING! I wanted to buy her the best toy, the most expensive one, and the one she deserved the most.
So I went and bought:

Photos: Amazon.comUntil HY stopped me from going crazy. Oops.
To my horror, not only she disliked it, she only is interested and only wanted to play with the US$2 toy that I got her from the US.. which is NOT suitable for babies under 3. I just got it for her out of amusement. It's those old school wound up toys. She would chase it (if she is in her walker) or reach for it if she is sitting down. Unfortunately, those kind of toys require ALOT of supervision. I have to make sure she doesnt swallow that damn toy or wander in her walker in some dangerous area (ie the kitchen).
Anyway, she hated all her EXPENSIVE toys. Cried and fussed if she was placed in her toy area. HATE HATE HATE HATE.
I was at a loss. I have spent so much on toys, but I still wanted to find a toy that she can actually use and play by herself without much supervision, but I didnt want to spend so much money. To my surprise, they actually have this toy rental concept in Singapore. Something like DVD rentals! Cool!
There were many toy rental websites in Singapore offering more or less the same thing. After alot of hesitation, I finally got the courage to rent a toy from http://www.rent-that-toy.com/. Rent That Toy! is managed by mummies (you can read alot more about them on their website. They are featured in a few magazines). How it works is
1. You sign up
2. You choose a toy you want to rent
3. Wait for email confirmation
4. Wait for your toy to be delivered to your door step!
What I like most about this website is:
1. NO DEPOSIT!
2. No hassles in inputing my credit card info for verification blablabla
3. Free delivery and pick up for orders more than $35 (great for pple with no car and lazy like me)
4. Nice and simple website. Easypeasy to navigate.
and the best:
5. They deliver on weekends and after working hours (super for working mums like me!)
So I rented this toy for $35 a month:

I waited for the email confirmation. I confirmed the delivery date. And waited.
Delivery day arrives and I got the toy! Happiness!
For you pple who are germaphobics, the website do guarantee that they sterilise their toys before and after rental (after all they are all mummies!). But if you are still icky about getting used toys, you can be like me; buy hygenic wipes and wipe them down before you plonk your baby on it.
Baby's review:
She hated it at first sight.
After about 2 days, she warmed up to it.
After a few more days, she was kinda indifferent to it.
After that she was playing with it for half hour at one go.
Happiness! I get half hour of me time!
Mummy's review:
Toy came. Wiped down. Toy looked worn.. but realistically speaking, would baby care? No. Its expected from a used toy anyway. Mummy gets half hour of me time!
Would I buy this toy permanantly? Seriously? No. I've yet to find a toy that she can entertain herself endlessly without me having to be permanantly attached to her. Another thing is that I am renting a place in Singapore. Furthermore in Singapore, they are famous for their so roomy 2 bedrooms flat. Ever since she came here, we got no space! She takes up 3/4 of the whole place. I seriously regret not finding a 3 bedroom flat! I thought 2 bedrooms would be enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another plus point of renting toys for her. Who knew a small little person would take up so much space?
After this, I'm going to rent the jumperoo for her. Cant wait!
