Whats cooking
Old cucumber soup. Easy peasy to make. Dump pork bone soup, some pork meat, cut up the old cucumber, add some dried scallop / those dried mussells into the slow cooker. Add water. Boil overnight. DONE! You can add some chicken stock to make it sweeter (what I did - yummy!). Have it for lunch together with some rice - healthy! If i were to buy this at the stalls, its like filled with msg and costs a bomb!

My portion - ^_^
Yes I have 2 slow cooker. Small one is for the little one. Big one is for the big baby. ;)

Cooking for Shuen
As much as I can, I will cook for Shuen without using any additives. So usually, during the weekends she will have 2 meals a day. Her first meal is barley porridge with fruits. Its really yummy! Serious!

I grind the barley to finer bits, then add pears or apples and dump them all in the slow cooker for about 3 hours or so. The pears and apples will be soft and could be mashed up when its time for her to eat.
I do this every weekend morning.
For her dinner, I will usually boil soup (no salt) for the whole family, so I just take the lazy way out. Her porridge will be the soup base that we cook every week - and some veggies - few leaves. Heh. Wash one spoon of rice. Dump in slow cooker. Take some soup. Dump in slow cooker. Let it cook till evening. About one hour before she is due to eat - dump some finely minced vege. Cook.
Some mummies I know who go all out to give their babies organic food stuff (friggin expensive) and cook all kinds of yummy stuff - avacados, sweet potatoes, steam fish, steam etc. I'm like.. err okay... I just dump whatever I can find in the slow cooker. Noone wants to eat avacadoes or sweet potatoes in the house.. so its no use if I buy one packet (they do sell it like that.. humpf) and then the rest are wasted.

1 week as a house wifeOk technically it isnt cause Shuen is at her nanny's and the maid just came over to clean the house
*heh*
I've been so busy lately with work (now no, cos I'm on one week leave to recover from the stress) and its pretty tiring to juggle work, shuen and wife all at the same time.
As we (as a family) progress, we decided that we really had to save money, and I came up with this brilliant idea to cook every day, and occassionaly, if it fits (like I drop dead or Shuen is giving me trouble) we will buy food back. Our food bill is astronomical, so I decided I will cook simple dishes. After all, the market (just downstairs) closes at 1130 pm and it only costs us like $4 per day to cook as opposed to $20 per day to take out.
I will choose the dishes, pick Shuen up and then plop her infront of the TV and start to cook. Everything must be done in precision timing. While it cooks, I will play with her for awhile, then when she starts to sleep, the food will be done! HAH.
So this has been my life everyday. Come back from work. Cook. Play with Shuen. Eat. Sleep.
I'm off to buy groceries. I had set a budget of $10 a day for food. We'll see how it goes.

Hangat hangat tahi ayam
There will be days when I wake up.. I'm raring to go, planning my day to the exact detail what I am going to do after work. The general idea would be:
1. Pick her up... PLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY with her
2. Put her down, let her watch her dvd - Mr Men ABC
3. While she watches... COOK! - and I will cook sumptuous and nutritious meals!
4. After eating dinner, knit my bag.
5. Sleep
What really happens after work is
Brain dead - let her play in the cot by hereslf - eat some KFC/MCd/insert some junk - sleep
SIGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
Age is catching up

Black Moandays

GIVE ME Friday already!! *sigh*
The past few weeks we were going to many show houses looking for our perfect home. Prices dont come cheap and there are loads of misleading information. Like for one, I very much wanted to view this boutique development, which was freehold and near the MRT (rare), had 3 bedrooms that all came with attached bathrooms, and it was only 9 storeys. Sad to say, when I went there, the plot of land was surrounded by condos and houses. Can you imagine your next door neighbour is a bungalow? Opposite the road was an exclusive condominium staring down at you.
Super Ugh.
And its selling close to 1mil for about 1100 sqft.
AND THE WORST PART WAS THERE WAS NO SHOWROOM. THE SALES SITE WAS LIKE A CONSTRUCTION WORKERS SITE. SO PUT OFF.
Sigh.. and the search continues..

The best baby ever!
She may not be perfect, but she was the best baby ever in KL. We travelled via bus. Imagine 5 hours in a confined area with a baby. Ugh. So we specifically requested for the "meeting room" on the bus. You see there are these double deck busses and the lower deck is a karaoke room or a meeting room. We had so much fun there! It was so easy to manage her there cos we had soo much space. Despite the 3 hr jam on the bridge, the journey back was a breeze.
In KL, she was so friendly. Although it took her abit of time to warm up she was so friendly and she just kept on playing and laughing with people who played with her. She was so full of fun fun fun!
She now knows how to "gongxi gongxi" although she confuses this with "clap hands". It will be a matter of time before she knows how to clap hands. She also recently knew how to "give me five"

SO CUTE!

On the way back to KL, the bus we boarded did not have the meeting room. So it was quite challenging to manage her. But she managed to behave herself with abit of mishaps along the way (screaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam). But we came back unscathed. So much for dreading the bus ride back. I would definetely consider going back more often now (provided I get the meeting room bus again!!!)
